Ken MacGowan


BROKER

After a successful career in the world of Accounting/Finance (at Computing Devices Company – now General Dynamics, an international accounting firm and Accenture/Synerlogic Inc.) with his B.Comm. from Carleton University and  his accounting designation (CPA, CMA), Ken obtained his Real Estate Sales Representative licence (later his Real Estate Brokers licence) in 1990.  After working with an independent Brokerage for a short time he joined the RE/MAX network in 1992.  

Ken is celebrating 25 years in real estate this year. His achievements have been recognized by company awards – Top Agent & Top Team at RE/MAX Affiliates, President’s Club, 100% Club, Platinum Club, RE/MAX International Hall of Fame and the RE/MAX International Lifetime Achievement Award – fewer than 1% of RE/MAX Associates worldwide have achieved this award!

As a lifelong resident of Ottawa, Ken loves his hometown and believes in strong communities and in giving back to his community. He and his family support The Ottawa Hospital Foundation, Ottawa Humane Society, United Way, Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation and the Miracle Home Program which benefits Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO).  He also serves on the Finance Committee at the Ottawa Real Estate Board.

Ken’s Real Estate education includes: Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR), Registered Relocation Specialist (RRS) as well as Real Estate Broker’s licence from the Real Estate Council of Ontario, Ontario Real Estate Association and membership in the Ottawa Real Estate Board.

Outside of real estate Ken enjoys family time with his wife Sue (a Sr. Public Servant), son Mike, daughter-in-law Robyne and son Brian as well as walking Labrador Retriever Sam on the many neighbourhood pathways. A favourite summer vacation destination is the family Cottage, Canada’s East Coast, Algonquin Park or more recently travelling to Europe.  Ken also spends time cheering on the Ottawa Senator’s in the winter and the Ottawa Redblack’s in the summer/fall.  Ken’s favourite activity in summer is driving his roadster to play an occasional game of golf at the Mississippi Golf Club in Appleton.

Daren MacGowan


SALES REPRESENTATIVE 

Ken invited his brother Daren to join the Ken MacGowan Team in 2007 immediately upon obtaining his real estate licence. Daren is a Real Estate Sales Representative licenced by the Real Estate Council of Ontario and a member of the Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA), Ontario Real Estate Association (OREA) and Ottawa Real Estate Board (OREB).

Daren has a vast knowledge of Marketing and Advertising. Prior to entering real estate Daren was self-employed as the Owner/Operator of a boutique graphic design firm dedicated to producing high quality marketing strategies and materials for many local and international Clients. He spent a few years living in Oakville/Hamilton while attending Sheridan College’s Graphic Design program and working for a Professional Magazine.

Daren is a life-long (except for his College years) resident of Ottawa. He is married to Andrea (Graphic Designer) with three teenage children (son Ethan and daughters Halden and Quinn) and a feisty miniature Schnauzer (Heidi). The winter months are spent playing hockey, working as a volunteer coaching boys and girls hockey and watching kids basketball. Daren has developed a passion for golf and learning to play the guitar.

Mike MacGowan


SALES REPRESENTATIVE

Mike (Ken’s son) is a second generation, bilingual Real Estate Sales Representative licensed by the Real Estate Council of Ontario and a member of the Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA), Ontario Real Estate Association (OREA) and Ottawa Real Estate Board (OREB). He has over 10 years of real estate experience with the Ken MacGowan Team. While attending Carleton University and playing music, Mike provided Administrative and Marketing support to the practice prior to obtaining his real estate licence.

Mike is a lifelong resident of Ottawa with deep family roots in the community and Ottawa’s surrounding areas. For many years, Mike had several Bands that toured throughout North America. He managed the Bands (booking shows, financing & merchandise sales etc.) as well as performing and writing music. He continues to play guitar and write & record music.

Mike recently married Robyne (a Federal Public Servant), the festivities were in Prince Edward Island celebrating with Robyne’s large extended family. Mike and Robyne are recent first time home buyers that enjoy improving their home – you may see them wandering the aisles at Home Depot and Lowes!

They are the proud owners of Bons, their excitable Jack Russell/Chihuahua rescue dog and Marley, their Chocolate Labrador Retriever. Mike and Robyne enjoy golf and time by the water at the MacGowan Family Cottage near Delta Ontario and at Robyne’s Family Cottage in Prince Edward Island.
